Salt of the Earth

Today is what I would call a perfect summer day. The whole weekend has been pretty good come to think of it. Friday was the kids last day of their Education Soaring program. It was so much fun. During lunch time the drama class put on a play- and Thomas was the lead. He didn’t tell me- he wanted me to be surprised. He did so well. I was so proud. Then the Digital Movie Making class had their movies shown and Thomas’ (and his pal Ziad) movie got a huge laugh and standing ovation from all the kids and parents there. Once again- very proud. Graham also did very well in his little classes- and he even got to mummify a barbie doll and make a spider web and build a robot. His classes were geared more towards younger kids- so very hands on and packed full of activity and fun. Everyday was something new and amazing. I am so glad they got to take part in it.

Friday night Thomas went to a sleep over so Graham, Mick and I went to the Oregon Brewers Fest where we met Mick’s good friend from college- Rob. We had a blast and I discovered two new amazing beers.

Saturday I picked a very sleep deprived Thomas up from his friends house. Apparently- 5 ten year olds have a lot to talk about and do to the point that 3 of them didn’t even bother going to sleep all night long. Needless to say, Thomas slept for a big part of Saturday and then we all went out for pizza for dinner.

Today one of Thomas friends came over and then two more- so including my kids I had 5 kids here. It was pretty crazy in my house but it just felt so summery. Come dinner time I put paper plates out and Mick grilled hot dogs and burgers and we all ate outside. Reminded me so much of my mom feeding all of my friends when I was younger. As i set the food out I thought, ‘I’m doing what my mom did’. It was cool.

I’m car shopping. Have a few good ideas. Trying to figure out my best avenue for a loan.

Boys start their second session of swimming lessons tomorrow morning.

it’s a beautiful night- just a tad bit chili.
