About A Girl

i just saw the funniest thing…. as I was signing off from myspace account (tbuttercup, if any myspacers are interested) and this add for this live chat with this dancing guy popped up. It was so funny cause he was dancing and looking into this little camera and pointing and for some reason it just seemed funny to me. How silly. ANYWAY

The term is done and I am officially on spring break. The boys as well. They started the week sick and by Wednesday i was going down for the count. We stayed home yesterday and i think we will today as well.

My last critique went well. My teacher liked the two paintings that I didn’t like and was only so so on the one I really liked. Then there were two that we both liked. She thinks I need to explore the style of the ones i didn’t like because she feels there is great potential there. I think I didn’t like the frame of mind I was in when I painted them hence my dislike for the final product. I don’t know. I don’t handle chaos well and that’s what they represent to me. The one I titled Shades of Grey is my favorite. It is the most personal painting I’ve ever done- it’s abstract but it means a lot to me. My favorite was this little sketch book that I did for a side project called ‘About A Girl”.

Thomas played his bass for a school assembly on Wednesday. It was so awesome. He’s so good- I was so proud of him. He’s taken to playing the bass like a duck to water. I admire that he can play two instruments at the same time. His orchestra teacher has offered free lessons for the summer- as long as I bring him to his house. It’s about a 20 minute drive but I really don’t care. He’s an amazing teacher and Thomas is learning so much from him.

Graham and I went on a date last weekend. Mick and Thomas went to Boy Scout winter camp so it was just the G and me.. We ended up going to Build a Bear then out for Sushi. His choice. We were celebrating the end of basketball season. We ended up taking Uncle Buddy out to dinner that night as well. After we dropped Uncle Buddy off G and I came home and went to bed. It was so nice to have him next to me all night long.

I went to the boys conferences on Wednesday. They are both doing very well academically. Thomas is getting frustrated and bored which is starting to reflect in his motivation to do the work. Graham has been a little temperamental but after tightening up the reigns and grounding him for a week, he’s back on track. i am very proud of both of them.

Spring Break started yesterday. We don’t have big plans at all. My mom is coming on Tuesday to help Uncle buddy with his new house. The kids and I may meet some friends at the beach but other than that i plan on sleeping in and watching an abundance of really bad, cheesy sci fi.

Well- that’s enough on this end.

almost spring

Spring break is around the corner and I am SO ready for it this year/ I’m so ready to NOT to run around, pack lunches, nag about homework, make sure projects are done and boys are tucked in bed at a decent hour, go two different directions at once 3 times a day, etc….. I want to just sleep, sleep, sleep and watch an abundance of really bad, cheesy sci fi. ahhhhh Actually, the boys and I might go to the beach for a couple days to meet some friends. We’ll see how motivated I am by mid week.

This term is coming to an end for me. I’ve finished 5 paintings- well 4, i need to finish the last one by next Wednesday. I’ll get it done.

Graham finished basketball on Saturday. I think we are both glad. He doesn’t like it much right now. He’s really improved and everyone keeps telling him how good he’s gotten but he’ll hear none of it. He wants to try something else. His football coach called the other night asking if Graham would like to be on his spring football team…… (shrugs, rolls eyes, throws hands in the air) ….

Thomas is doing well. He has winter camp for cub scouts this weekend. He’s excited. He crosses over to boy scouts on Monday. I think he’ll do it for a little bit- but once he starts middle school next year I think time will be a huge factor. That and the fact that he and Graham have meetings on the same nights, same time, different places. My friend Mark said he could take him since he’ll be taking his son. eh it may work out…

I’m still going to the gym and doing SB. I’m still very happy with it and looking forward to reaching my next goal.

I could seriously take a nap now so I’m going to get out of my comfy chair and get some stuff done.
