Now I’m McGuyver
SO we went camping last weekend with the boy scouts. The boys biked the 18 miles to Oxbow park while a few of us parents hauled gear. I had to plan an activity geared towards team building. I decided to do an obstacle course it was awesome and the boys really enjoyed it. Not sure if it was the pudding that they had to play for or the actual events. lol
When I left the camp ground on Sunday Graham felt my face and said I felt warm. Sure enough i had a fever which turned into a horrible cold. Both boys ended up getting sick too so they stayed home with me Monday and Tuesday. House full of sickies, tell you.
So I’m sitting here now, catching up on Dancing With the Stars and American Idol. I’m a huge Bob Marley fan and when Jason Castro sang ‘I Shot the Sheriff’ my ears hurt. I just wanted it to stop but couldn’t push the fast forward button on my remote. It was like a train wreck. Dear Future American Idol Contestants: please leave Bob Marley songs alone.
My most exciting news is my new acquisition. A few weeks ago i had mentioned to a friend that I wanted to get a spinning wheel- to spin my own yarn. Since these little wheels are quite pricey I wasn’t really planning on getting one anytime soon. The week after my friend told me she had something for me- a spinning wheel. It had belonged to her sister who no longer wanted it an had stored it in her garage. I nearly flipped out. It was missing a few pieces that I managed to order online and then a couple that I had to make up myself. Last night was the first time I got it going- and it was so awesome. It’s a 30 year old wheel but a very good one. Like I mentioned, some of the parts aren’t made anymore but I pulled a McGuyver and made them. I LOVE it. It is so amazing to spin your own yarn. Pioneer or not, it’s pretty cool.
Off to get orange juice.
