We departed Portland in the afternoon and drove to Medford. Our jump start on the trip proved to be less fruitful than we wanted due to afternoon traffic — it took over an hour just to get out of Portland. In Medford we stayed at a Motel 6 and looked forward to a short driving day on Saturday.
I found more on the traffic incident that happened during my bike commute last night. KATU has the story, including video from the scene. Judging by the pictures, it looks like the car went right up the guy wire. I think that means he might not have been going 100 mph as someone on the scene had theorized.
Bike Portland has an interesting article about the “rolling stop sign” bicycle law in Idaho including an excellent letter from the Idaho Transportation Department. As a daily bike commuter, I wholeheartedly approve of such legislation and hope it comes to pass in Oregon.
