I found a note in my Google Docs folder this morning. It is entitled “Weight Loss Goals” and contained this bullet list:
- Be more comfortable in airplane seats ✔
- Stop needing seat belt extenders on airplanes ✔
- Use car seat belts without reclining seat ✔
- Stop belly from rubbing on steering wheel ✔
- Get off blood pressure meds ✔
- Get off cholesterol meds
- Get off diabetes meds ✔
- Relieve sciatica
- Better peeing experience ✔
- Walk without pain ✔
- Wear a belt without pain
- Use seat back tables on planes
According to the chart in this post, this was a list I made when I was at my very heaviest, nearly 450 pounds. At that time I was also traveling on airplanes quite often.
In September I discovered I had accomplished most of my airplane-related goals but I forgot to check if I could get the tray table down. I have spent so long not even trying that I completely forgot it was an option. I look forward to trying it a week from Thursday when we fly to Denver.
I’m still taking simvastatin for cholesterol control but I did “get off” the other medications.
I hadn’t thought about sciatica until today but I can’t remember the last time I noticed symptoms. I’m still averse to belts especially since I bought suspenders.
